Rich Larson - Drummer Extraordinarier AND Web designer!

A new year…a new decade…a new HIGHLIGHTS website!  Next time you see  Highlights drummer, Rich Larson, please let him know you’ve visited this new site!  Did you know Rich was such a multi-talented guy? Tell you what…his most major talent is getting Big Chicken Marcy moving on all this crazy technology!  We hope you like the site – and thank you for coming here to get the news on your Highlights.   Please give Rich a Big Thanks next time you see him…for the great beat and the great site!  Let Rich know of ideas you have for our site, too!

Tom Waselchuk, guitarist for the Highlights, recently produced a music video of a wonderful holiday song composed in 1956 by Dan Schuffman, who happens to be Tom’s father-in-law. The song is called Christmas Is Love and Dan wrote it when he was working as a director and writer at ABC TV in Chicago. The song was never marketed back then, but when Tom heard the song a few years ago, he knew it was something special. Christmas Is Love has a terrific melody and lyrics that paint an idyllic scene of Currier & Ives imagery. The song is the equal, in our opinion, of Mel Torme’s The Christmas Song.  Plus, Tom and Rich Larson, the Highlights drummer, both play on the video!  Click here to watch at YouTube or just enjoy it below performed by Maggie Pothoff of Harmonious Wail.

What kind of car does a ghost drive?  A Booick!  Ok…so no more jokes, but who is that masked man?  Yes, it’s Highlights’ bass player, Ken Heim as Zorro celebrating Halloween at the Sunday Dance Party.  And then there is the scary grim reaper carrying the death sickle –really it is Highlights guitar player.singer Tom Waselchuk!  Dr. Thumper, Rich Larson, drummer, is preparing for surgery….who will be the next victim…I mean, patient?  And “rounding’ out the gang….your happy M & M Marcy.

HIGHLIGHTS A HIT AT THE BADGER CHILI KICKOFF

An estimated crowd of over 6000 joined in the pre-game fun with Marcy and the Highlights at the UW Field House on November 6th prior to the Wisconsin-Minnesota VICTORY!

The Highlights have been invited to cheer on the Badgers at this event again next year, so mark your calendars now for November 12, 2005 and GO BADGERS!
